What is a unit in sports betting?
Short answer
A unit is one standard bet size, chosen by each bettor as a small fixed share of their bankroll. Cappers report picks and results in units so that records can be compared whatever anyone actually stakes.
If your unit is $20, a “2 unit” pick means a $40 bet for you. For someone whose unit is $100, the same pick means $200.
Results work the same way: a capper who is “up 12 units” this month has won twelve times their standard bet, whatever that amount is.
Units make records honest and comparable. Dollar amounts say more about the size of someone’s bankroll than about how good their picks are.
